Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen defended cornerback Richard Sherman, who has faced a backlash of criticism throughout the week for comments he made after Sunday's NFC championship game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Sherman verbally tore into 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree moments after making the decisive play in the end zone.

Allen, who also owns the Portland Trail Blazers, expressed his support for Sherman during Thursday night's game against the Denver Nuggets.

"When you sit down and talk to Richard, he's a very engaging, intelligent, good-hearted guy," Allen said, according to The Associated Press. "All of us realize, if you're going to the Super Bowl, everything gets magnified. You have to keep that in your mind."

Sherman is expected to get more attention next week when the media meets the Seahawks and Denver Broncos in the lead up to the Super Bowl in Meadowlands, N.J.
