Quarterback Anthony Alford, who was granted his release by Southern Mississippi last month, announced on his Twitter account on Tuesday that he will transfer to Mississippi.

Mississippi has not yet confirmed Alford's transfer.

Alford started five games as a true freshman for Southern Miss in 2012, and he led the team in passing yards and was third in rushing.

Alford was charged with aggravated assault in connection with an on-campus fight shortly before he was granted his release.
