The Seattle Seahawks' victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday averaged 55.9 million viewers on FOX, raking as the fifth most-watched conference championship game in history.

The Denver Broncos' victory over the New England Patriots earlier in the day averaged 51.3 million viewers on CBS, and the combined average of 53.7 million viewers for the two games equaled joining the 2011 season as the most-watched conference championship Sunday in more than 30 years.

The conference championship games are television's two most-watched shows since Super Bowl XLVII, and were the most-watched conference championships since the Chargers at Bengals averaged 51.6 million viewers and the Cowboys and 49ers averaged 68.7 million to combine for 60.2 million on Jan. 10, 1982.
