Mallards win in extra innings
Madison trying to keep post-season hopes alive
A solo homer by center fielder John Welborn helped the Madison Mallards keep their post-season hopes alive and beat the La Crosse Loggers 7-6 Wednesday in La Crosse.
The win kept the Mallards from getting swept in the four game series.
The Mallards bats came alive Wednesday, despite being no hit by the Loggers the night before. Welborn hit two homers in the game, and left fielder Derek Fisher and third basement Nicholas Howard also got homers for Madison. Hobie McClain earned his fourth win of the season for the Mallards, who are 16-8 in the second half of the season.
The Mallards continue their five game road trip tonight as they start a series against the Eau Claire Express.
The Mallards return to the “Duck Pond” on Sunday to start a five game series with the Lakeshore Chinooks.
