Verona's boys hockey team defeated number one ranked Notre Dame 5-2 at Alliant Energy Center Friday to earn its first ever berth in the WIAA State Hockey championship game.

The Wildcats will face Eau Claire Memorial, a 5-3 winner over Superior in the other semifinal game Friday night.

A little over a month ago, Notre Dame came to Verona and beat the Wildcats 7-nothing at Eagle's Nest.

Notre Dame ties the game at 2 in the second but its Harry Seid again who comes back and gives the wildcats the lead, 3-2.

Freshman goalie Alex Jones got the win for the Wildcats.

Verona will play for the state championship Saturday afternoon. The girls state title game begins at noon, Verona's game will start after that, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
