Green Bay rallies past Illinois-Chicago 53-47
Brown secures win with final free throws
Alec Brown hit four free throws in the final 10 seconds to help Wisconsin-Green Bay secure a 53-47 Horizon League victory over Illinois-Chicago on Saturday at the Resch Center.
The loss was the third straight and sixth in seven games for the Flames (10-7, 1-3).
Brown topped all scorers with 21 points and eight rebounds as the Phoenix (8-9, 2-2) won their second straight.
Gary Talton led the Flames with 11 points. Illinois-Chicago shot just 16 of 47 from the field (34 percent); Daniel Barnes was just 2 of 11 while Hayden Humes went 3 of 9.
The Flames rallied from a 23-16 first-half deficit to force a 26-26 halftime tie on Talton's 3-pointer with six seconds showing. UIC led 38-35 with 8:04 left but slumped down the stretch.
Illinois-Chicago hosts city rival Loyola Wednesday while Green Bay entertains Youngstown State on Thursday. Both are league contests.
