The Vancouver Canucks added some offense to their roster on Wednesday, signing free-agent right winger Radim Vrbata to a two-year, $10 million deal.
Vrbata, 33, finished last season with 20 goals and 31 assists in 80 games for the Arizona Coyotes.
In 12 NHL seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Coyotes, Vrbata has 215 goals and 249 assists in 792 games. the Czech Republic native scored a career-high 35 goals during the 2011-12 season with the Coyotes.
Fox Sports Arizona reported that the Coyotes tried to retain Vrbata, but when the Montreal Canadiens and Canucks expressed interest, they drove the price tag up.
