The Chicago Bears have signed quarterback Matt Blanchard to a reserve/futures contract, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
Blanchard, an undrafted free agent out of Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater, has been on the Bears practice squad.
He could be a factor if backup quarterbacks Jason Campbell and Josh McCown aren't retained, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Blanchard grew up in suburban Lake Zurich, Ill., and contributed to three national champions in college.
He was 25-0 as a starter at UW-Whitewater, and as a senior, he threw for 2,852 yards, 23 touchdowns and four interceptions.
