The Eighth Annual Crusade Fore a Cure golf tournament was played Monday at Maple Bluff Country Club.

20 girls high school golf teams competed and learned more about the fight against breast cancer.

Proceeds from the tournament benefited the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The first seven years of the tournament raised over $55,000.

Edgewood girls golf coach Peggy Gierhart says the day

"Our main focus for the girls is that they go and leave high school or leave this event and realize that they have the skill to help fundraise," Gierhart said. "And it doesn't take a lot to be a part of that big cause. That's what's also fun about the golf. Golf is such a stressful individual game, and the fact that today we just say it's all for fun. It's a team game today and I think people are much more laid back, which is fun."
