MADISON, Wis. -- Badger running back Booker Stanley pleaded not guilty Thursday to multiple charges he faces from an incident at the Mifflin Street Block party last weekend.A criminal complaint says Stanely, who is free on signature bond, has an anger problem. A woman told police Stanley grabbed her by the nose moments before he got into an altercation with another man.News 3 first obtained photos of what police say is the aftermath of the fight between Stanley and Jeremiah Jacobs.Jacobs claims Stanley started the brawl, according to court documents. But Stanley's attorney told News 3 his client acted in self-defense. Investigators for the defense said injuries seen in the photos were caused by police taking Jacobs to the ground and his face hitting gravel."I've never seen an aligation that he caused those injuries," said defense attorney Charlie Giesen. "They are inconsistant with the complaint, and they appear to be injuries that were caused by contact with the ground not by being struck by Mr. Stanley."The criminal complaint says officers observed Stanley hit the victim with his right hand, and photos shows a bloody right side of the victim's face.Stanley is charged with battery, disorderly conduct and resisting or obstructing an officer.Stanley was not in court for his initial appearance Thursday. Since he's charged only with misdemeanors he's not required to be there. He is suspended from the football team.
