Madison, Wis. -- If you are among those NFL fans who found Favre versus the Green Bay Packers as intriguing and dramatic as any football game can be, then it's fair to say you have already broken down rematch possibilities.

Here's the playoff seeding if the season ended today.

1. New Orleans (13-0) 2. Minnesota (11-2) 3. Philadelphia (9-4) 4. Arizona (8-4) 5. Green Bay (9-4) 6. Dallas (8-5)

For the sake of potential drama, let's play the what-if game. If there will be a third meeting of Favre and general manager Ted Thompson, Favre and coach Mike McCarthy, Favre and his replacement, Aaron Rodgers, or Favre and whomever you see as the former Packers' primary foe, then we need to assume a few things, for the sake of argument, of course.

-- The Vikings will win at least one more game to clinch the NFC North division.

-- New Orleans will hold on to the top seed and earn home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

-- The Green Bay Packers will continue to win enough games to earn the top wildcard spot in the NFC.

If all of that happens, the Packers would play Minnesota only if Green Bay beats Arizona and Dallas beats Philadelphia.

The other opportunity for a Packers-Vikings rematch would be if Green Bay beat Arizona and New Orleans and the Vikings beat Philadelphia.

Think how much Favre could stick it to his old team if he were to beat them three times this season with the third ending their season, but what if the Packers were to stick it to No. 4 when it really counts? Would that be enough for a 40-year-old legend to come back for another season?
