Badgers Hockey Team Earns Weekend Split

Badgers Top St. Cloud St. 4-1

The Wisconsin Badgers hockey team (7-4-1, 5-4-1) scored four goals Saturday night, two in the third period, to ensure a split in a weekend series against St. Cloud State (5-5-2, 4-3-1).

In the 4-1 win over the Huskies, Badgers' goalie Scott Gudmundson stopped 18 goals earning the victory in net for the Badgers.

Wisconsin's Brendan Smith scored his third goal of the season on the power play in the first period. That put the Badgers up 1-0, but St. Cloud State's David Eddy tied the score 1:19 later.

The Badgers added a goal in the second period. John Mitchell put the Badgers up for good. Smith and Aaron Bendickson each earned an assist.

Derek Lee found Minnesota native Jordy Murray in the third making the score 3-1 Wisconsin.

Then Patrick Johnson added his second goal of the season to ice the win for the Badgers.
