Packers Players Question Defensive Scheme

No Sacks, No Interceptions In 2 Games Against Vikings

Updated: 11:45 am CST November 2, 2009

For the second straight game against the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers didn't sack or pick off Brett Favre. Favre once again had plenty of time to throw four touchdown passes.

Defensive end Cullen Jenkins suggested the Packers defensive scheme was to blame. He said when they finally loosened up the plan, it was too late..

"You know it's frustrating because you wonder," said Cullen Jenkins. "What is the real goal? Are we doing everything to win the games or are we just doing things to run a certain thing. You know I want to win and I want to do whatever it takes to win but then you have to take the handcuffs off."

Charles Woodson was the one who criticized the Packers defensive scheme after the first meeting in Minneapolis, but he was the one trying to calm his teammates' pointed remarks.

"I tell you what, when you lose then all the bad things come out," said Woodson. "You know you are going to get some of that if it continues, but we got to play the game. You know we have to make the plays we have to make and if we don't then we lose."

"I felt that Dom was spinning the pressures there," said Packers coach Mike McCarthy. "We've got to do a better job winning the one-on-ones. As coaches we've got to look at the things that we've done. Hopefully we'll have another crack at these guys down the road."

The Vikings had two fumbles on the day. One was on special teams, the other a mishandled snap from center, but Favre credited his line for quality play.

"To play this team and not have a sack, our offensive line is outstanding," Favre said. "We had a fumble that was between [center John Sullivan] and I, but to not throw any picks, it was pretty special.
