Minneapolis, MN -- (Sports Network) - Alexi Casilla, who broke up Mark Buehrle's quest for a second straight perfect game on Tuesday, singled in the eventual winning run in the sixth frame on Wednesday, as Minnesota broke out the brooms with a 3-2 victory over division rival Chicago. The Twins swept the three-game series to jump the White Sox in the National League Central -- although still behind Detroit -- and came out victorious in the series for the 14th time in the last 16 at home. Brian Duensing pitched well in relief of Francisco Liriano, who was a late scratch due to swelling in his pitching forearm. Duensing gave up two runs on three hits with one walk and two strikeouts over five frames, and Jesse Crain (3-4) pitched a pair of scoreless innings to pick up the victory. Joe Nathan worked around some trouble and got new White Sox Mark Kotsay to line out to right with runners on second and third to end the contest and pick up his 29th save. Casilla also drove home another run and Denard Span had two hits and an RBI. "Great win, great win," said Michael Cuddyer. "That's how we need to continue to get wins." Jose Contreras (4-10) took the loss for Chicago after surrendering three runs and six hits with five walks and four strikeouts over 5 2/3 frames. Carlos Quentin and Jayson Nix clubbed solo home runs for the White Sox, who have lost six of seven overall. "It's a tough loss," said Nix. "We let the first two (of this series) get away, and this was definitely a tough loss." The Twins took the edge with a two-spot in the second. Carlos Gomez singled with one out and stole second in front of a Nick Punto walk. Casilla followed with an RBI ground-rule double that hopped over the left-center field fence. Punto then crossed the plate on a Span groundout. Chicago cut the deficit in half thanks to Nix's solo shot in the third inning then played long ball again in the fifth on Quentin's solo homer to dead center field. Joe Crede walked to lead off the bottom of the sixth, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and came around to score on a Casilla single that fell onto bare turf in center. Game Notes Contreras has lost three in a row and five of his last seven starts...The Twins have won seven of 12 meetings between the two rivals this season...Nix's home run was his seventh, while Quentin back-legged his ninth long ball of the campaign...Attendance 39,002.
