Twins Recall Casilla, Option Tolbert

Arlington, TX -- (Sports Network) - Prior to Friday's game against Texas, the Minnesota Twins recalled second baseman Alexi Casilla from Triple-A Rochester and optioned infielder Matt Tolbert.The team also selected pitcher Kevin Mulvey's contract from the Red Wings and optioned catcher Jose Morales to its minor league affiliate. The club originally announced the moves on Sunday and Wednesday, respectively. Casilla was hitting .180 with five RBI in 34 games over two stints with the Twins this season going into Friday's game. He went 0-for-4 in the team's win over Texas. Tolbert, who is heading for Rochester, has seen action in 45 contests and has a .178 average with a homer and 12 RBI. Mulvey, acquired from New York in the deal that sent Johan Santana to the Mets, has a 3-6 record with a 3.93 earned run average in the minors this season. Morales played in 32 games for Minnesota and batted .343 with four runs batted in.
