T-Wolves Set To Introduce Kahn As Head Of Basketball Operations

(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves have called a press conference for 1 p.m (et) Friday, when it is expected former Pacers executive David Kahn will be named head of basketball operations.

Kahn will fill a role last held by Minnesota head coach Kevin McHale, who relinquished his post as vice president of basketball operations when he took over bench duties for the exiled Randy Wittman in December 2008.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune is reporting Kahn's title will be president of basketball operations and it remains unclear the futures of current general manager Jim Stack and assistant GMs Fred Hoiberg and Rob Babcock. All were considered potential in-house candidates for the job. Also reportedly considered was Portland assistant GM Tom Penn.

It also leaves the future of McHale in question as the T-Wolves finished the 2008-09 campaign a disappointing 24-58 and 12th in the Western Conference.
