Packers Schedule Release Big For Hotels

Packers' 2009 Schedule Released Tuesday

Updated: 3:24 pm CDT April 15, 2009

Some Green Bay area hotels added staff to handle a barrage of reservation calls that come with the release of the Packers' 2009 schedule.

Cambria Suites said the initial excitement about the season can be overwhelming. General manager Craig Bleier said the tough economy apparently isn't making a difference for those who support the green and gold.

The Hampton Inn said the Packers season makes its entire fourth quarter. The hotel's Lawry Larson said winter time in Green Bay isn't a huge draw, except for the Packers.

Larson says reservations for four or five games fill up right away, with the remaining home games lagging behind.

The Packers 2009 schedule includes one Sunday night, two Monday night games and a Thanksgiving Day appearance.

"It's great to see that the NFL and our network partners feel strongly about the national appeal and popularity of the Packers, with five of our games slated for national broadcasts," Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said in a news release.

The Packers open their season on Sunday night at home against the Bears on Sept. 13.
