Badgers Off To WCHA Final Five

MADISON, Wis. -- Finishing things off hasn't been easy for No. 17 Wisconsin, but it took care of things Saturday night.Andy Bohmbach and Blake Geoffrion scored second-period goals for the Badgers, who finished off a sweep of Minnesota State- Mankato with a 4-2 victory.Combined with a 7-1 victory on Friday night, the Badgers won the best-of-three Western Collegiate Hockey Association first-round playoff series in two games.They'll play a league semifinal game at the WCHA Final Five in St. Paul, Minn., next Friday.Bohmbach broke a 1-1 deadlock by swatting in a loose puck after teammate Aaron Bendickson's centering pass was blocked.Geoffrion scored on an assist from Bohmbach less than six minutes later, sliding a slow shot past Mavericks goaltender Mike Zacharias, who was out of position.
