St. Paul, MN -- (Sports Network) - Kyle Calder had a goal and one assist and Dustin Brown notched the game-winning score in the second period, as Los Angeles topped Minnesota, 5-2, at Xcel Energy Center.Anze Kopitar, Derek Armstrong and Patrick O'Sullivan also lit the lamp for the Kings, who snapped a four-game losing streak and picked up their first road win since December 27 at Phoenix. Jonathan Quick made 25 stops to earn his fifth win of the season. Owen Nolan and Marek Zidlicky each scored once for the Wild, who have lost two of three. Niklas Backstrom took the loss after giving up four goals on 26 shots through two periods. Josh Harding stopped all five shots in the third period in relief. Harding replaced Backstrom for the start of the third period and the change energized the Wild, who outshot the visitors 13-6. However, Minnesota failed to come up with a goal despite a pair of power-play chances and O'Sullivan hit the clincher into an empty net with 4.3 seconds to go. "This is crunch time for a lot of teams. You start separating from each other," said Brown of the importance of points on the road in the playoff race." We didn't get the two points we needed in Dallas, but we got two tonight and it's two that Minnesota didn't get." Each club tallied in the first period, with Calder opening the scoring at 10:36 at even strength followed by Nolan's power-play goal at 12:30. LA took control of the game in the second period. Kopitar put the visitors ahead with the man advantage at 7:18, followed by an acrobatic swat of a puck out of mid-air in the slot by Brown at 8:32. Zidlicky followed with one of his trademark power-play blasts at 11:22 for a one-goal game, but Armstrong deftly deflected a shot from Matt Greene past Backstrom to restore a two-goal edge with 4:06 left in the second. "It's a team that we have to beat," said Wild defenseman Martin Skoula. "We weren't ready with the right work ethic. They were all over us right from the first period."
