The president and chief executive officer of the Green Bay Packers said that the team plans to retire Brett Favre's number during this coming season.

Mark Murphy said that he had a preliminary discussion with Favre, and that both Favre and the organization agreed that his No. 4 would be retired during the 2008 season.

Packers spokesman Aaaron Popkey said that the team and Favre will choose a game for the retirement ceremony after the National Football League's regular season schedule is released.

The Packers have retired five uniform numbers: Tony Canadeo's No. 3, Don Hutson's No. 14, Bart Starr's No. 15, Ray Nitschke's No. 66 and Reggie White's No. 92.
