Sales Tax Revenues Used To Pay Off Lambeau Field Remain Flat
Revenue Lower Than What Tax Raised In 2004, 2005

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The stadium district said that the sales tax used to pay off loans for the renovation of Lambeau Field remain flat and lag behind revenues collected four years ago.The Green Bay/Brown County Professional Football Stadium District said that the half-percent Brown County sales tax generated $20.6 million last year, a growth of 3 percent over 2006.But Executive Director Pat Webb said that the revenue is still lower than what the tax raised in 2004 and 2005.He calls the trend surprising. He said that it shows the economy is slow and people are building fewer houses, buying fewer cars and making more purchases on the Internet.Brown County voters narrowly approved the sales tax in 2000 to help fund the $295 million renovation of the Green Bay Packers' stadium.
