Sophomore Meghan Duggan led the women's hockey team with three goals over the weekend as the Badgers swept the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus.

The Badgers, winners of six straight, are now in third place in the WCHA standings with a record of 15-6-2 overall and 11-4-2 in conference play. They are just one point behind second place Minnesota. Ohio State (10-10-3 overall and 7-9-3 in WCHA play) are now in fifth place.

On Friday night, Duggan scored Wisconsin's first and third goal in a 3-2 victory, while senior Jinelle Zaugg had the Badgers' second score. Duggan's final goal turned out to be the difference, as Ohio State was able to cut what was a 3-1 Badger lead to 3-2 with 27 seconds left in regulation after Ohio State had pulled its goalie for extra offense.

On Saturday, four different Badgers got scores as Wisconsin built an insurmountable 4-0 lead by the middle mark of the second period. Junior Alycia Matthews, Hilary Knight, and Angie Keseley had scores in a three-goal first period, while Meghan Duggan completed Wisconsin's scoring with her third of the series in the second period. Ohio State ended the Badger shutout hopes in the third period with a goal by Erin Keys, making Saturday's final 4-1.

Fans can welcome the women's hockey team back to the Kohl Center next weekend, Jan. 25-26. Wisconsin, which hasn't played a home game since December 1, will take on St. Cloud State. Face-off is 2 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The Badgers invite their fans to help "Fill the Bowl" on Saturday, Jan. 26, as three area businesses will donate $1 each to Second Harvest Foodbank for every fan in attendance. More details about Saturday's fundraiser can be found here.
