Guevara Suspended By MLS Disciplinary Committee

POSTED: 11:45 am CDT August 8, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee suspended Toronto FC midfielder Amado Guevara one game and fined him $250 for conduct that constituted a red card offense of an egregious nature in Toronto FC's 2-0 loss to FC Dallas on Aug. 3.

The fine and one-game suspension are in addition to the automatic one-game suspension and $250 fine for the red card Guevara received in the game. Guevara deliberately struck FC Dallas midfielder Pablo Ricchetti in the face in the 78th minute of the game last Sunday. Guevara will serve the two-game suspension in Toronto FC's matches on Aug 9, vs. Colorado Rapids and Aug. 17, vs. the New York Red Bulls.
