Find A Job Matching Your Skills
Identifying Your Strengths
Before you can decide what you want to do, you should first figure out what you like to do, and what you are good at.
For instance, if you love math but are scared to death of public speaking, you would probably be happier as a financial analyst than as a trial lawyer. But how do you pinpoint your skills and strengths?
You can use a professional assessment tool, or try it on your own.
Write a detailed list of the activities you enjoy. Include hobbies, leisure activities, volunteer jobs, favorite subjects in school, etc. Then list what you like about those activities.
For example, maybe you enjoy being around a lot of people. Some of you may prefer writing quietly or other solitary activities. Others like strenuous physical activity.
Now you just have to find the best match between your skills and a career. Check out WetFeet for details on which occupations offer you the chance to do what you like best.
A few hours of your time now can help you avoid jumping onto a career path that will lead you in the wrong direction.
