READ: Online LicensingREAD: State RegulationsREAD: Hunting DatesREAD: CWD Carcass TagREAD: CWD TestingREAD: Wisconsin Outdoor ReportMADISON, Wis. -- The state Natural Resources Board has adopted increases in deer population goals in more than 40 management zones under pressure from hunters.Outraged deer hunters complained last fall the Department of Natural Resources' herd control strategies have so thinned the herd their sport is in jeopardy.The DNR in October proposed raising population goals in 13 zones. Legislators, feeling pressure from hunters, threatened to reject the plan without revisions.The DNR's new plan calls for higher goals in 43 zones, raising the state's overall population goal by 60,000 to about 800,000 animals.The changes will form the basis of rules for this fall's hunting seasons. They're still subject to legislative review.
