MADISON, Wis. -- Political analysts and even Gov. Jim Doyle's own pollster said that the Democratic incumbent faces a tough road to re-election in November.Doyle is now facing just U.S. Rep. Mark Green, R-Green Bay, in the November election after Scott Walker dropped out of the running for the Republican nomination.Political observers said that Walker's move gives a boost to Green because he avoids a battle for the GOP nomination and can save his resources for Doyle.Analysts said that Doyle will have his hands full becoming the first Democratic governor in Wisconsin to win re-election in 32 years. They point to the Republican-controlled Legislature, questions about Doyle's fundraising and a liberal base that has been disappointed by the governor's more moderate record.Doyle's pollster Mark Mellman recently warned Democrats that they faced the greatest danger of losing the governor's race in Wisconsin compared to any other battleground state.
