Tours Being Offered In August

MADISON, Wis. -- Those curious about the governor's home get can a look inside the mansion every Thursday afternoon through August.Free tours are being offered from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.The Executive Residence was designed by local architect Frank Riley. It's been home to 13 governors, including current Gov. Jim Doyle. Highlights include gifts to the state from around the world and artwork by state artists. Tours last about 30 minutes and include a history and view of first-floor rooms. Visitors can also walk through the gardens.Participants are encouraged to bring new or gently used books to be donated to youth literacy organizations.The residence is at 99 Cambridge Road in the village of Maple Bluff.
