MADISON, Wis. -- A new report said state lawmakers might have to cut $1.6 billion more from the state budget through June 30, 2011.The Legislative Fiscal Bureau said lower collections of the individual and corporate income taxes than expected are causing a big hole in the budget. The report said that income tax revenue dropped by 35.8 percent in April compared to last year.Anticipating the shortfall, Gov. Jim Doyle last week announced a plan to layoff up to 1,100 state workers and require most of the state workforce to take 16 days off without pay over two years.
