Doyle Tells State Agencies To Cut Budgets
Next Two-Year Budget Starts In July 2009

MADISON, Wis. -- Gov. Jim Doyle is telling most state agencies not to expect any increase in funding over the next two years.Doyle is also telling state officials to prepare plans for a 10 percent cut. He gave the same order to agencies two years ago.The governor's instructions come in a letter that outlines what to expect in the next two-year budget plan he will submit to the Legislature in February.Major priorities Doyle identifies include reforming health care, investing in education, caring for children, and being economically competitive and energy efficient.The new two-year budget starts July 1, 2009.Agencies are required to submit their budget plans by Sept. 15.
