Madison Holding Planning Meetings On Future Of Downtown Area
Additional Meetings Will Be Held Wednesday And Thursday

MADISON, Wis. -- The city of Madison is looking to make some changes and city leaders invite the public to lend their thoughts on their new downtown plan.Administrators and community members met on Tuesday in the second round of public meetings to take a look at a big picture plan.A 2006 study by the city helped it develop recommendations for the heart of the city -- but the city continues to look for more possibilities.Sue Plasterer said that the city is looking at other transportation modes to move people in and out of the city and high fuel costs are also driving the discussion on other modes of transportation, WISC-TV reported.The next round of meetings will take place on Wednesday and Thursday between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. The meetings will be held at the overture center's Wisconsin studio.Stay tuned to WISC-TV and Channel 3000 for continuing coverage.
