Doyle Willing To Compromise On Statewide Smoking Ban

POSTED: 7:00 pm CST February 20, 2007

Gov. Jim Doyle said that he is willing to compromise on a statewide smoking ban, but only if it improves public health.

Doyle told the WISC-TV editorial board on Tuesday that we would consider phasing in a total ban over time to include bars and restaurants.

"I am not going to sign a bill ever that doesn't advance the cause of public health," Doyle said.

The governor met with the editorial board for 45 minutes. For more on what Doyle said, watch the video.
