Doyle Willing To Compromise On Statewide Smoking Ban

MADISON, Wis. -- Gov. Jim Doyle said that he is willing to compromise on a statewide smoking ban, but only if it improves public health.Doyle told the WISC-TV editorial board on Tuesday that we would consider phasing in a total ban over time to include bars and restaurants."I am not going to sign a bill ever that doesn't advance the cause of public health," Doyle said.The governor met with the editorial board for 45 minutes.
