You may be entitled to some money back from pharmaceutical giant Abbott Labs.

The company recently settled a lawsuit with 18 states, including Wisconsin.

The lawsuit states that $30 million is now available to be returned to consumers who took the drug Hytrin.

"The way that the consumers were wronged is that they paid too much for a drug called Hytrin, which is used to treat high blood pressure and enlarged prostrates," said Steve Meili, director of the University of Wisconsin Law Litigation Clinic.

You're eligible for money back if you took Hytrin or its generic equivalent, Terazosin, from October 1995 to March 2005.

The lawsuit alleged that Abbott Labs artificially and illegally kept the drug price high by keeping out competition.

"Among other things, it paid would-be manufacturers of generic equivalents not to produce the generic," said Meili. "That is to keep Hytrin on the market for as long as possible without competition from generics."
