Wyman E. Nelson, age 91, of Janesville, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at his home. He was born in Dallas, WI, on March 9, 1922 and was raised by his mother, Mina Byrd and her husband, Genard Olson.
Wyman served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater of Operations serving in the Quartermaster Corps. He married Geraldine Usher on Aug. 10, 1963, at St. John Lutheran Church, Janesville. Wyman was a polisher in the Paint dept. at General Motors for 34 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the UAW Local 95 and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1621. Wyman liked to do all sorts of handiwork and loved being a grandfather. He was also known to enjoy watching The Young and The Restless with his Chihuahuas on his lap.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; 3 children: Janet (Russ) Weber of Janesville, Jodi (Denny) Hoff of Milton and John Minich of Edgerton; 6 grandchildren: Joshua Minich, Kendra Minich, Jeremy (Diana) Hoff, Adam (Erika) Hoff, Amber and Ashley Weber; 8 great grandchildren: Morgan, Kai, Gracie, Kaelyn, Keye, Kenna, Colyn, and Kinlea; 3 siblings: Bernice Kahl of Janesville, Bonnie Kathrine of Cumberland and Roger Olson of Dallas, WI; and his two faithful companions, Buster and Sassy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 6 siblings: William Nelson, Maynard, Kenneth, Russell, and Jerry Olson, and Betty Severson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL with Rev. Naomi Garber officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Milton Lawns Memorial Park Chapel. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
