MADISON- Winnifred Johnson, age 96, of Madison passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014.
She was born on July 3, 1917, in Lyndon Station, the daughter of Robert and Genevieve (Carey) Neve. Winnifred married Otis Johnson on May 7, 1938, in New Lisbon. She was employed as an administrative assistant by the University of Wisconsin, a member of Bethel Lutheran Church since 1942, and did volunteer work for the Capitol City Band, and the UW Division of Continuing Studies for many years. Winnie won the hearts of everyone she met. She was known for her high heels, her love of dancing and the sparkle in her green eyes. She was our “Lady”.
Winnifred is survived by her son, Bruce (Marcy) Johnson; daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Wolfe; grandchildren, Kirsten (Jack) Brogan, Kate (Sandy) Milovancevic, Cara (Rob) Olson, and Tobey Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis; parents, siblings; daughter, Lorraine (Edward) Borkus; and grandson, Eric Wolfe.
Funeral services for Winnifred will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
