MADISON –William L. “Bill” Sr., age 83, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, ending his battle with cancer .
He was born on Feb. 10, 1931, in Madison, the son of Lawrence and Iris (Cady)Grab. Bill loved sports, raced cars, played semi Pro hockey, pitched softball, basketball, football, bowling and enjoyed all the friends he made through sports and his time in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a flight mechanic in SAC. He had fond memories of his time running the Spot Bar and then selling auto parts for Benike and Culver.
Bill was married to his loving wife, Marianne (Thureen) Grab for 63 years. They have cared for their son “Willie” since his culvert accident in 1963. In his later years, Bill was an avid golfer.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marianne; and his two sons, William Jr. and Larry (Brenda) Grab; a grandson, John (Lisa) Grab; and a great-grandson, Finnigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bob. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from Noon until the time of the service on Monday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
