William F. “Bill” Weh, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov 6, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI.
He was born on Aug 16, 1938, to Robert M. and Hygeia (Fies) Weh. He grew up in Aurora, OH, and graduated from Aurora High School in 1956. He graduated from Denison University in Granville, OH, in 1960. On Sep 30, 1961, he married Carolyn Thrasher in Rochester, NY. After living in Cleveland, OH, and Madison, he moved the family to Fort Atkinson in 1969.
During his career he worked primarily in the transportation field at various companies before operating his own trucking company, Blackhawk Express, from 1980 to 1992. He was very proud to be Fort Atkinson’s Small Business Person of the Year in 1988.
Bill was a generous and compassionate man who loved his family, his black Labradors and his many, many friends. He had a profound love of the outdoors that was formed at an early age while wilderness camping at Northwoods YMCA camp. In the past 10 years, he enjoyed spending time at his little slice of paradise on the Manitowish River in northern Wisconsin where family and friends were always welcome - the more, the merrier!
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carolyn, two children, Suzanne (David) Rahn and Robert (Amy) Weh, two beloved grandchildren, Charles and Sarah Weh, brother Jack (Linda) Weh, Italian son Gianni Frittoli and faithful friend, Wilson. He also leaves behind many friends from the Fort Atkinson and Camp Manito-wish communities, from Aurora, OH, and his Kappa Sigma brothers.
A celebration of life will be held at the Edgewater Supper Club, N3522 County Hwy K, in Jefferson on Tuesday, Nov 12, 2013, from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Camp Manito-wish YMCA, P.O. Box 246, Boulder Junction, WI 54512.
The Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
