MADISON- Valeria Legried was carried by her angels to be with her Heavenly Father with LaVerne at her side on October 21, 2013, at Belmont Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on March 3, 1926, in Wausau. She was the daughter of Arthur W. and Laura Schulz, of Mosinee. She graduated from Mosinee High School in 1944. She was employed as a passenger and freight agent for the Milwaukee Road for ten years. She was the first female telegraph operator in the state of Wisconsin. She met her husband, LaVerne Legried and started a family and had four children. She then worked for the State of Wisconsin with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. She retired on January 30, 1990. In 1980 she was able to travel to Russia, Jordan, Egypt, Israel and Syria.
She is survived by her beloved husband, LaVerne, of 61 years; two sons, James, of Madison, and Jerry (Shelley), of Madison; two daughters, Sheila, of Livingston, Montana, and Mary Beth, of New Zealand; grandson, Gabrial, of Madison; and three beloved granddaughters, McKenna, Ashlen, and Kadence Legried, of Madison; living siblings, William (Jeri) Shulz, of Centennial, Colorado, and Joyce Kaziak, of Woodruff; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ruth Martin, of Rothschild, Mildred and Albin Schulta, of Rothschild, Dorothea and Richard, of Rothschild, Edward and Ann of Tomahawk, and LaVonne Lockwood, of Florida.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Norway Grove Cemetery.
