Thomas J. Falbe, 81 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 16, 2013.
He was born March 11, 1932 in Elgin, Illinois. He graduated from Dundee High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean War. Following his discharge he returned to Dundee and worked in the Post Office. Tom and his cousin Duane moved to Mauston in 1964 and purchased the “Castle Rock Resort”. In 1975 he went to work at the Veterans Hospital in Tomah until he retired. In 1971 Tom married Marilyn (Knutson) Dahl. They lived in the red cabin on the hill for 23 years, tending their animals and enjoying time with kids and grandchildren. Tom was his kids and grandkids best fan and loved attending Mauston High School basketball games.
Tom was a member of the American Legion Post 81 and a former commander as well as a member of the 40 Et 8 Chapter 1323. He took great pride in being on the honor guard for his fellow veterans.
Tom was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, La Valle. He will be remembered for as a loving husband, stepdad, grandpa and best friend. Tom is survived by his wife of 42 years Marilyn, children Colleen Dahl of Mauston, Mark (Dawn) Dahl of Elroy, John (Diane) Dahl of Wonewoc, David (Heather) Dahl of Tomah, 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is further survived by cousin Duane and Lee Falbe of Mauston, Linda & Richard Lundy of Arizona and their five children, sister-in-law Sonja Donavon, Clarice (Ralph) Garske, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 19, 2013 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, La Valle with Pastor Robert Butler officiating.
Burial will be at Plymouth Cemetery with military honors.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, December 18th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Crandall Funeral Home, Mauston and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
