MADISON-Thomas F. McEvilly, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Columbia Health Care Center.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1926, in Madison, the son of Thomas and Mabel (Esse) McEvilly. He married Loretta McEvilly on Sept. 21, 1948, and together they shared 58 wonderful years.
Thomas proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan during World War II. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Inland Steel in East Chicago, Ill.
Tom and Loretta owned and operated Stroup Jewelers in Crown Point, Ind. He took great pride in his 20 years as a volunteer at the VA Hospital in Madison. He was a lifelong Cubs fan as well as a Packers and Badgers fan.
Tom is survived by two daughters, Karen Weber and Susan (Peter Kools) McEvilly Kools; two sons, Tom (Angela Hall) McEvilly and David McEvilly; five grandchildren, Martha, Maxwell, Michael, Meara and Madlin; sister, Ann (Don) Tofte; sister-in-law, Irene McEvilly; and brother-in-law, Bill (Sally) Heath. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Loretta.
Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 322 E. Washington Ave., Madison, at 10 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, with the Rev. Kenneth Smith presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016.
A private burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
