Thomas Emil Olson, age 66, of Madison, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, November 1, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born March 5, 1947 in Madison the son of Harold LaVerne and Marilyn Magdalene (Anderson) Olson. He attended Central High School. Tom married the love of his life, Sandra Lee Ausman on May 10, 1986 and they made their life in Madison.

Tom relaxed by hunting and fishing, participating around the state in Buckskin 1880’s Rendezvous’ and above all loved spending time with his family. He liked going to the casinos and Vegas, and he and Sandy were blessed to travel to Vegas one more time this spring. Tom retired honorably in 1969 from a career with the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a life member of VFW Post 8483. He was known as “Uncle Tom” to everyone who knew him.

Tom will be deeply missed by his wife, Sandra of Madison; his brother, Tim (Alice) Olson of Pardeeville; his sister, Nancy Olson of Madison; his mother, Marilyn Olson of Madison; nieces and nephews, Scott Olson of Arlington, Kari Olson (Eugene) of Madison, April ( Andy) Glimme of Madison, Matthew (Suzee) Glimme of Madison, Jason Frazier of Madison, Valerie (Ray) Frazier of Lodi, Renee (Steve) Miller of Ramona, CA; father-in-law, Kenneth Ausman; sister-in-law, Patricia (Riley) Frazier of Madison; and numerous great-nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Olson; brother, Terry Olson; and mother-in-law, Lucille Ausman.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue with Dan Phettplace and Kari Olson officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at 2:30 at Dekorra Lutheran Cemetery in Dekorra.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
