The Wisconsin Council on Children and Families is one of those organizations that are indispensable because they give a voice to the voiceless.

It is often said that children’s issues are among the most difficult to attract the attention of elected officials because children don’t vote. They also don’t contribute to campaigns, not that both claims aren’t equally cynical.

WCCF has been pursuing its mission that “every child in Wisconsin grows up in a just and nurturing family and community” for over a hundred years. It is a vital source of research, public awareness and policy analysis including non-partisan lobbying of the state legislature on behalf of issues relating to the health and well-being of children.

We have great admiration for its work.

This Thursday WCCF is holding a celebration of its work with an event at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. The list of sponsors is appropriately impressive. When you get a chance visit the WCCF website, and see for yourself how WCCF is working to get all of use to “step forward for kids.”
