MONONA-Steven R. Barr, age 58, of Monona, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.
He was born in Madison on November 8, 1955, the son of Norma (Meyer) and Arthur Barr.
The love of his life was Lori Ring and they were planning to wed on her birthday in April.
Steve graduated from East High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, the Badgers, Packers, and the outdoors. Steve was a self-employed businessman who loved working with his hands and was a master of all trades. He lived by his motto, “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Steve was a great father, a family man, and friend of many who was full of life.
He is survived by his fiancé, Lori Ring; son, Shaun; daughter, Sarah; Lori’s children, Chaz, Coddye and Chelsea; and his grandson, Tannar; mother, Norma; siblings, Bev (Gary “Jet”) Jackson, Art C. Barr, Jr.; and nieces, nephews and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Carl; and Shaun and Sarah’s mother, Lori VanRoy-Barr.
Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, with Father John Silva presiding. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.
