MIDDLETON-Stanley B. Baltes, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born on June 2, 1922, in Middleton, the son of Henry and Alma (Rosein) Baltes. Stan attended Edgewood High School and went on to attend Madison Business College graduating with a degree in Business. He proudly served his country during World War II in India.
Stan was united in marriage to Freda Larson on July 19, 1947 at St. Bernard’s Church in Middleton. After their marriage, the couple operated Baltes Amusements for many years until their retirement. Following their retirement, Stan and Freda began taking trips throughout the United States as well as abroad. Stan also enjoyed camping and fishing trips with his family. In his “younger days”, he had the opportunity to go to Canada with friends for their annual fishing trip. He was a 4-H leader. He also enjoyed the Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Badgers, and the Friday night fish fry with family and friends.
Stan was a member of the William “Sonny” Simon VFW Post 8216 in Middleton. He was involved with the Middleton Good Neighbor Fest and in many of the activities that they participated in. Stan was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
Stan is survived by his children, Steve (Debi) Baltes, Jean O’Neil, Jeff (Karen) Baltes, and Patti Baltes; grandchildren, Trent, Haley, Brianna, Caylie, Jared and Kevin. He also leaves behind many great nieces and great nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Freda, his parents, his brother, George and many brothers/sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave, Middleton at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2014 and also on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
