CROSS PLAINS -

Dear family and friends, God decided that on Saturday, July 6, 2013, my work on earth was completed.

With the many blessings I have received in my lifetime, I close my earthly journey with no regrets. On June 13th of this year I have completed 62 years as a Religious Franciscan Sister. During those years I have served the Church teaching in elementary schools for 32 years in Illinois and Wisconsin, and 23 years as a Pastoral Minister at St. Francis Xavier in Cross Plains.

On December 2, 1933, I was born to John and Rose (Wagner) Acker. They were the greatest Christian parents anyone could ask for. Their profound faith, love of Church and family, with a generous supply of humor, gave us a happy family life. I leave behind my sisters, Margaret Lamberty, Milly Kelter, Sister Haroldine and Elmerine Acker and two brothers, Harry and Leonard. Also, my in-laws; Dolores, Susan, Diane, Elaine and Nancy Acker and many, much loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

I am also grateful to the dear School Sisters of St. Francis with whom I shared Community. On leaving, I hope to join my parents and brothers: Leander, Edward, Elmer and John; brothers-in-law, Donald (Tubby) Kelter and LaVerne Lamberty and the many other relatives and friends who preceded me into the Eternal Kingdom.

My greatest accomplishment was my perseverance as a faithful daughter of the Church. My greatest treasures were the many friends in many parishes who were so loyal for so many years. Dee and Thien I am grateful for taking me on trips. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the parishioners of St. Francis who truly loved and adopted me as part of their families. Each one of you will be forever in my heart.

If you wish to honor me with funeral remembrances, I ask no flowers to be given, but contributions for Masses, some to the Retirement Fund for the School Sisters of St. Francis, and some to the Stain Glass Window Fund hoping that it will remind you of our final home in Heaven where I hope to be.

The Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM in ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St. Cross Plains. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM with visitation before from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with my Pastor and friend, Reverend Thomas Kelley presiding. (Do come! I want at least the first two pews filled up, not including the pallbearers!!)

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

I extend gratitude to Father Tom, to those who prepare and are a part of the service, those who attend my funeral, those who prepare the meal and the Gunderson Funeral Home for providing such great service.

Forever grateful and meet you in our Heavenly Home, Sister John Rose Acker, O.S. F.
