MADISON-Ruth G. Olsen, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Pine View Assisted Living for the Elderly in Windsor.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1920, in Boscobel, to Frank and Cora (Betz) Grimesey. Ruth was married to Frank Olsen on March 16, 1957, in Madison, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1991.

Ruth was a member of Crosstown African Violet Club, Dane County Shamrock Club and First Congregational Church. She was an avid sports fan of the Green Bay Packers and the UW football and hockey teams. Ruth enjoyed sewing, bowling, gardening, growing African Violets and watching her grandsons grow up.

She leaves behind a daughter, Corene (Terry) Bohn; two grandsons, Brently and Bryce Bohn all of Madison; brother-in-law, George Kaiser; sister-in-law, Evelyn Rolland; numerous nieces and nephews; along with great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Hazel, Lillian, Irene, and Mildred; brother, William; and her significant other of ten years, James Cunningham.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pine View Living, Oak Park Place, and the Hospice staff for all their care, love, and support for Ruth and her family.

Always, all my lifetime through, I’ve known I could depend on you to listen and to understand, to gladly lend a helping hand. No wonder that I love you so, far more than words could ever show. No Mother anywhere could be as precious as you are to me.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
