Robert J. "Bob" Holt, age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 3, 1949, in Madison, the son of John and Catherine "Katie" (French) Holt.
He married Shirley Ellestad on June 8, 1968. In his earlier years, Bob enjoyed camping, swimming, golfing, and his canine companions. Bob was a barber for 40 years, starting at Nakoma Plaza before opening and operating Roffler City Style until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed the conversations and friendships with his customers. Bob devoted his life to his family, faith and friends. He was a loyal member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Tina Lobeck (Tim Volenberg), Bobby (Heather) Holt and Laura (Craig) Johnson; grandchildren, Lexie, Nicholas, Cory, Deaven, Cristian, Sheyann, Aleysia and Collyn "Ubby"; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Thomas D. Holt.
A funeral service will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee St., Madison, at 12 p.m. Noon, on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, with the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
