Robert “Bob” Sliter, age 84, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly due to complications of a stroke on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.
Bob was born at home in Sauk County, Wis., on June 15, 1929, to Raleigh and Ruth Sliter. On June 8, 1950, Bob married the love of his life, Delores DeWeese.
They had four children, Judy (Darrell) Heinzelman, Jerry (Diane) Sliter, Linda (Tom) Fredrick and Lois Sliter. Bob loved his grandchildren, Robert, Stacey, Danielle (Shawn), Troy (Carrie), Leif (Ann), Weston; Thad (Sonya), Jeremiah (Crystal), Joe (Lindsey), Julie, Carrie, Stephanie (Josh); and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is further survived by brother, Bill (Judy) Sliter; sister, Patsy (George) Laufenberg; brothers-in-law, Milton Sprecher, Dea (Mabel) DeWeese, Carroll (Grace) DeWeese; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack; a sister, Shirley Sprecher; a nephew, Kevin Laufenberg; and a niece, Debbie Paulus. Bob enjoyed many years working with friends as a top food salesman. He will be fondly remembered for spending time and visiting with his family and friends, coaching, playing and watching a wide variety of sports, collecting pens and hats, riding on his lawn mower, eating at Culvers, his love of life and being a generous person.
Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made in Bob’s name to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
