Richard R. "Dick" Kluever, age 81, died on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2016, at Skaalen Home in Stoughton. He was born on Dec. 2, 1934, in Madison, the son of Raymond and Doris (Serstad) Kluever. Dick graduated from Stoughton High School in 1952 and married Carol Olsen in 1953 with whom he had a daughter, Kathy. He later married Margaret Long and became father to her four children, Joe, Rose, Fred and Chris. Dick was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge 1451 and the American Legion Post 59. He worked for the Stoughton Police Department as well as the Dane County Sheriff's Department where he was the handler of the first Dane County police dog, Hector. Dick is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Russ) Beloungy of Belleville, Ill; brothers, Kenneth (the late Thyra) and Rex (Rita); sister, Phyllis (the late Howard) Wendt; aunt, Mary Ann (Wayne) Martin; uncle, Bill (Lenore) Serstad; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Fred and Lena (Bates) Kluever and Oscar and Verena (Dickens) Serstad; and brother, Robert. Funeral services will be held at SKAALEN HOME, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, with the Revs. Jerry Tews, Roger Olsen and Jim Koza presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. Visitation will be held at Skaalen Home from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service on Tuesday. The family wishes to thank the staff at Skaalen Home for their care and concern during his stay there.
