STOUGHTON-Norman Owen Kalland, age 91, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1921, in Cambridge, the son of Arthur and Nettie (Anderson) Kalland. Norman graduated from Cambridge High School in 1940. He was united in marriage to Fern Simonson on Aug. 18, 1945.

Norman enjoyed fishing and hunting, and farmed in the Utica area until 1952. He then moved his family to California where he worked on a large dairy farm, milking 400 cows. Norman returned to Wisconsin, working in Sun Prairie at Hanley’s, and then at Gisholt. He again moved to California where he worked as a machinist. His skills proved to be superior and he was asked to complete special jobs at Lockheed Missiles in Sunnyville, Calif, where he retired from in 1980 after 25 years. Together with Fern, they travelled across the United States in their motor home. In 2005 they returned to Stoughton to be closer to family and friends. Norman was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Fern; son, Owen (Toni nee Stone ) Kalland; granddaughters, Tiffany (Patrick) Doerr, and Colleen Kalland; sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson; and brother-in-law, Robert (Eva) Simonson. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Stanford and Arthur; sisters-in-law, Evelyn, Ruth, Alice and Eldora.

A Memorial Service will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 County Rd. B, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, with the Reverends James Koza and Richard Rem presiding. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Burial will be at Wheeler Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Agrace HospiceCare.
