Norma Mae Reddeman

MADISON- Norma Mae (Doudna) Reddeman passed away on July 29, 2014 at Sebring Assisted Care Residence in Madison, Wisconsin.

Born in Viola, Wisconsin October 10, 1922, Norma was the oldest of eight children born to Isabel and Frank Doudna.

Norma married her high school sweetheart, Neal Gordon Reddeman, in March of 1944 prior to his WWII deployment. After the war, Neal earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and went on to a distinguished career in the flexible packaging industry with Norma by his side. Norma accompanied Neal on many of his domestic and international business trips, including Europe and Japan. Business associates and friends around the world recognized that Neal's success was due in large part to Norma's love and support.

While Neal was working with Morton International in Chicago, Norma became an accomplished floral arranger and the Treasurer of the Garden Clubs of Illinois. Throughout their marriage, Norma took an active role in her children's school activities including Girl Scouts and PTA. Norma gave everyone her warm attention and an ever-present smile, whether an international CEO or a clerk at the grocery store. Neal and Norma were renowned for their parties, from Sauk City to Milwaukee -- Rochester, NY to Crystal Lake, IL -- and back to Neal's Wisconsin homestead in Merrimac where they retired. The love and devotion they shared was evident to all who met them.

Although Norma put on a cheerful face in public, she was devastated when Neal passed in 2006. Norma found happiness once more when Joe Heiss moved to Sebring this past year. Her family is grateful that during her final year she could enjoy loving companionship again. Her family also wants to thank the caring staff at Sebring who helped our mother over the years.

Norma is survived by her children: Diane Lee, Mark Reddeman, Nancy (Doug Gurkin) Reddeman, and Wendy (Tom) McCarty; grandchildren, Mark and Jenny (Tom Baker) Lee, Garrett and Casey McCarty, Katie Rose Gurkin; great-grandchildren, Cora and Soren Baker; sister, June Sheehan; brother, Bill (Jan) Doudna; and Norma's devoted companion, Joe Heiss.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Neal; sisters, Erma "Louise" Montgomery and Marsha Meyer; and brothers, Thornton "Duke", Robert and Aquila "AJ" Doudna.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Neal and Norma's memory may be addressed to UW Medical Research Fund, #12580247 at the UW Foundation, 1848 University Ave., Madison, WI 53726, or to a charity of your choice.

A celebration of the lives of Neal and Norma Reddeman will be held at Lake Wisconsin Country Club, N1076 Golf Rd, Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin, on Sunday, September 7, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
